Assistant Director (Primary & Early Years) National Centre for the Excelllence of Teaching Mathematics (NCETM)
Vivian has had a rich and varied career in Education working across a broad spectrum of schools in the Early Years and Primary phases. In the first few years of her teaching Vivian was asked to be part of the Mathematics Leading Teacher Programme which provided the opportunity to work with others and support teacher professional development. She then moved into a Local Authority consultancy role. Whilst in the consultant role she worked with senior leadership teams to develop whole school provision as well as working on local county based training and writing materials for national projects.
The impact of early education on pupils’ development became a focus as she took up an international post as Head of Lower School (3-7). Here she had the opportunity to lead a team to ensure that early provision nurtured and fostered curiosity, promoted a desire to learn and was building firm foundations for future learning.
Vivian has always had an interest in evidence based practice and continued to engage with research and apply new learning to her practice. She worked at Staffordshire University as a Senior Lecturer in Education with responsibility for setting up and leading primary initial teacher training (PGCE) and the training programme for the Early Years Teacher Status Award (PGCE). These experiences have led Vivian to her current post as an Assistant Director with the NCETM.
